Going through my mother's piano stool for some sheet music the other day, I noticed a book the title of which actually made me laugh out loud - "How to play piano, despite years of lessons". And how true it is! I fully subscribe to the 21st century philosophy which says that people should learn music in the way that best suits them, not in some old fashioned and highly coded manner designed to make music seem more complicated than it is and make musicians seem like the keepers of secrets for an elite cult.
Young Adults and Big Old Grown Ups:
Whether you're a complete beginner or an old hand, I will work closely with you to help you achieve your goals, learning your way, your speed, your music. Every student receives a tailored learning plan, in which they set their own aims and goals, whether that be to learn to improvise, become confident enough to perform to friends or round the proverbial campfire, or just to have fun and enjoy music. Maybe you want to ditch the notation and learn by ear? Or do you want the theory behind the music, but made easy? Or maybe you want the full on scales and Jazz chords. Whatever suits you best.
